The Thread 03:52
shapes appear from time to time within this dream with sapphires glowing through blurry lines rising in the heat. and you can’t move as they draw near but never arrive. the noise rises inside your head to block out those eyes. you know the ones. the mind can run only so long, this won’t stay down. come back home, you know you can turn back time. just wind up the thread upon its spool to the point where it frayed. to that mythic past burned in your mind: it’s been beckoning. you’ve done so good at forgetting the reason you left. you know the one. the mind can run only so long, this won’t stay down.

Woke Up 03:45
i woke up in a glowing disposition, baby because i knew you’d be by my side. now i look into the treetops above me, baby. i know it’s all gonna work out fine. now i walk scattered and giddy, baby, with my insides all stirred up. well, i fear it may be the death of me now, baby, but go on and fill up my cup. fill it up. why not grab your hand when i see you on the street? why not? when the way you look at me’s got me on my knees. oh no. i’m doing things i swore i wouldn’t do oh no. i been spending so much time thinking about you. i woke up sweaty and trembling, baby, scared of snakes beneath my sheets, and i stumbled over to the mirror, baby, and i looked like i ain’t slept in weeks. why not look you straight in the eye when i say, “what i want is for you to come right here and sit on my face” oh no. i’m doing things i swore i wouldn’t do. oh no. i been spending so much time thinking about you. you.

Clover 06:00
who’ll fix this weather? who’ll clean the seas? who’s watching the road ahead? who is steering? i am a young man but i’ve seen things. i walk through the clover and i remember bees. billions of cells growing a mind: these things take time. you and me, we’ll never know if the answer is 1 or 0. strange creatures walking, heads full of dreams and the nightmare visions, but we’ll keep breeding. as we speed somewhere we’ve never been, some of us wring our hands til they’re broken. billions of cells growing a mind: these things take time. you and me, we’ll never know if the answer is 1 or 0.

Sing to Me 04:30
sing to me, my love. sing to me unknowing. sing to me, my love, won’t you? sing to me unknowing. sing to me, my love. make the gases tremble all around my head. yeah. bring me to silence. sing to me, my love, while i lay in your bed and you put on your coat. i will play dead. and i will be dead, the answer to all these questions that writhe inside my head, from your throat sliding. lover, you seem lonely. your eyes look sad. for all that’s underground when i am in your eyes. i eclipse the sun with my black shadow. sing to me, my love. sing to me, i’m no one. no one.

waking work is never done. waking work is never done. you can seek solutions, but life’s the question. push and scrape every day, aching for silence and space, to get out of this cage. pouring rain, pouring rain. you dream of a dry place to lay, a comfortable grave. waking work is never done. waking work is never done. you can seek solutions, but then again, life’s the question. you keep praying that your kingdom will come. push and scrape every day, keep kicking the lock on the gate and feeding your hate. fury black on your face, spitting and cursing your fate. if that’s what it takes. pouring rain, pouring rain, you weep for a dry place to lay, a comfortable grave. block it out. wash away the faces that mock you all day and this hideous grey. waking work is never done. i said waking work is never done. you can seek solutions, but in the end, life’s the question. the star slides down, clouds catch fire, the embers die. earth turns toward space. the folds of night wrap you up and hold you tight-- you’re worn out, child.

Find Me 05:13
find me beside the river. find me. i hope you can. find me by the banks, watching words float away.
7.
Offering 04:22
i offer myself. i am not ashamed. if you do the same, maybe we can hang. until i have to go away. or til you have to go away. the embers that burned me, i put them to sleep. i know it’s still warm, but it’s just the steam. you can leave me where i stand. lonely boy, lonely man. you can leave me where i stand and i will still stand. and i’ll keep offering myself. i am not ashamed. even if your eyes wander away. i once brought you these songs, laid them at your feet, but you couldn’t hear anything. the fire defines me--orange, pink and green. it’s blue at its heart. if you need some heat, come join me where i stand, bluejay feathers in my hands. when you leave me where i stand, know that i will understand. and i’ll keep i’ll keep i’ll keep i’ll keep offering myself.

The Gate 04:28
whisper to the gate: “release me”. i beseech the plants: “teach me”. iron cold on my lips, my touch is ghost light. nerves thread through black earth and moonlight hurts my eyes. i know why i’m here but i can’t think right. something to do with someone from the other side. i know why i’m here where the damp soil sighs, something to do with someone, but everyone’s outside. smartweed and peppermint conceal me. god has its eyes shut. satan’s busy. i forgive you until i think back. i forgive myself as long as my mind’s all black. the garden is still but my languid eyes slide over the silver leaves in the windless night. i know why i’m here but i can’t think right. something to do with someone from the other side.
10.
you’ve gotta sing the blues, spit blood when you need to because there are pinks and greens dying, crying for release, screaming against the lid. yeah, there’s peach and cream and a stovecoil glowing underneath. oh my friend, if you’re feeling bleak, take a second, look up and watch the sky change between the trees. if you’re like me, life ain’t always easy. it’s just like mama showed me. if you’re like me, the weather rolls in thickly and like clockwork keeps changing. earth might choke, life may disappear. even so man, i’ll make sure my heat signatures show i was here, living against the end. this fire just might catch. there are beaches and city streets. take your shoes off so you can feel them with your feet. yeah, there are mossbeds and cold streams, furry carpets, ice sheets and poison ivy that’ll wreck your sleep. honesty. some call it oversharing, but i won’t be shamed for nothing. so you can hate on me you fucking trolls if you please. i’ll be out here living--how to put it?-- blazingly. truth i seek. i try to love those who walk with me and i love the sunsets desperately. if you’re like me, and frankly i been praying, this right here’s got you soaring.

Home 06:24
home i found hanging there (just out of reach) upon my cloud, in the air. i’m almost there. i found it walking alone and away. home i found flattening this world into frames like: home is sound holding me. broken vowels and buzzing strings. it’s the strangest thing. i found it walking alone and away. home i found flattening this world into frames like… this won’t end. it just is. so much left undone, when will i catch up? oh yeah: this is it. the only life i get. so much left undone. i’ll daydream until i wake up. i love the ground between my feet. dandelions and mossy green, my favorite things. i found it walking alone and away from home i found flattening this world into frames like… this won’t end. it just is. so much left undone, when will i catch up? oh yeah: this is it. the only life i get. so much left undone. i’ll daydream until i wake up.
